How far could we go in Europe?
Seeing how this season could well be all English European finals & given our current position, it's quite interesting to consider how our full strength squad team would do next season.

In one off games against Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal, I'd say that only Man City would be almost certain defeat. Chelsea would be tricky, but a definite possible victory. As things stand, against Man Utd or Arsenal I'd be very hopeful we might turn them over in a one off game, or even over two legs. To be fair though, other than West Ham, I've not really watched any other teams games since the first lockdown started and they banned fans.

I'm interested in the opinions of those who have continued to follow other games. Do you think we could have walked through Roma like Man Utd just did? How would we fair against PSG? Would we be completely overrun and destroyed by their frontline?

For all those who watch European football and the cups, how far could we realistically go next year if we qualify? In my mind I'm thinking if Arsenal & Man Utd under their current management can get to the semis, we've got to have a very good chance?

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
We wil go nowhere with GSB no ambition just keep us in the PL until they sell up. Our squad is paper thin and they have done well but now the injuries and lack of quality replacements is taken its toll. Top 8 is more realistic now

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
Interesting watch and fact.
Crystal palace Vs ManCity
Chelsea Vs Fulham
Chelsea and Man City made 8 changes from the midweek matches in the CL.

Name our team to play a PL game with 5-8 fresh players?

I thought not...

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
Probably wouldn't invest then wouldn't have the squad to take ir seriously. 40 points will be the goal again with anything more a bonus

or

GSB spend 80 million and we have a proper crack it at

I know which one my money is on

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
We would need to spend a net £50m ie £60-£65m on new players. If we get Europe and G&S can’t commit to that much then that would be it’s far as I was concerned, not that they would care. Though I think they will invest that much.

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
If that’s the case then you can’t blame Rice, Soucek etc.. if the decide to fuck off

Btw I don’t share the general pessimism.

Onwards and upwards (otherwise what’s the point).

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
Every game in Europe will be a step towards relegation, there is no chance we will invest in a squad capable of sustaining a campaign on two fronts.
Don't worry we won't qualify, GSB's cunning plan is working out perfectly

Get two decent strikers, if not we would struggle from the off.

If we qualify the draw might give us opposition beyond Europa.

I would say if we have to play qualifiers then we will last 2 games and if we go straight into the group stages then we will last 6 games.

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
Our best team would have a decent chance against EL opponents. But, our best team only last 3 games, so we can't compete in the PL domestic cups and Europe without massive investments.

Re: How far could we go in Europe?
Miserable fuckers....

To answer the OP... I reckon that our team would realistically be on a par with our friends from Slavia Prague. They obviously have more European experience than us but we have players with European experience:

Soucek
Coufal
Ogbonna
Lingard (assuming we sign him)
Fabianski
Diop

Plus Rice now has quite a bit of international experience.... that's half the side.

I don't see why we wouldn't be able to have a decent run (assuming additional squad depth as per my last post).

Euros, best players on extended break because of it, usual injuries through having a break ie: Antonio and the like.........out early doors.....squad is bare blah, blah, blah.

Greenland is politically in Europe, but it can't grow football pitches, so has troubles with the football authorities.

Israel. Well, it's in Europe in football terms.
